Tough Break For Trail Blazers
posted: Monday, November 26, 2007 at 9:07 PM

Sigh. Unfortunately, the Trail Blazers couldn't capture the home victory this time. losing74-85 to Magic. The momentum they started the game with dwindled as it progressed, and cost them. No matter, after all, as Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day."

Foul City
posted: at 8:57 PM

LaMarcus: 5 fouls

Howard: 5 fouls

Outlaw: 4 fouls

Frye: 4 fouls

Lewis: 4 fouls

Bogans: 5 fouls

Both teams are in some serious trouble. Orlando just picked up a 15 foul penalty, and Portland isn't far behind. With both teams facing the potential of their star player fouling out, the game has turned into a struggle.

All of the strong defense from both teams shows in the score, which is a staggeringly low 64-78 with 5:35 to go, Orlando taking the better end of this equation

Spain's Answer To Steve Nash
posted: at 8:44 PM

Sergio Rodriguez, who's initials could easily stand for "speed racer", just hit a beautiful three pointer, which will hopefully bring the teams extremely poor 3-point percentage of the game up a bit. (They're shooting just 10% from 3 point range).
Sergio is one of the most fun players to watch, and with his speed and size, as well as nicely executed assists, its no wonder he commonly draws comparisons to Steve Nash.

Portland trails by 7, with 61 points.

Turkoglu vs. Aldridge
posted: at 8:34 PM

Howard has not been having the kind of game gives him all-star consideration. Currently the Magic center is resting on the bench with 4 fouls. The real contender against LaMarcus is Hedo Turkoglu, who matches LA with 14 points, each player leading there team in scoring.

Trail Blazers lead by 3 with 1:50 to go in the 3rd

They're Back!
posted: at 8:28 PM

Turns out, the break was exactly what they needed to get rejuvenated and ready to go. Lamarcus is back, attacking the basket, Roy is back, with a pair of steals and a beautiful pass to Webster, who isn't really back, because he never left in the first place. He is having a great game. Everyone is looking sharp so far, with Portland leading by 5, 54-49.

LAMARCUS!
posted: at 8:24 PM

Starting things off the right way, Aldridge scores the first 3 baskets for the Trail Blazers, swooping up 6 points in two minutes. He is trying to make up for minutes lost due to foul trouble in the first half, and is succeeding in rapid fashion.

Half Time
posted: at 8:08 PM

Portland and Orlando are tied as we go into half time here at the Rose Garden.

Orlando made a big push in the second, after trailing by ten at the end of the first quarter. Rashard Lewis has been the key factor to Magic's second quarter success, scoring 6 points, along with Howard and Turkoglu that both picked up 5 in the quarter. Even so, Howard has not been the driving force that he was expected to be going in to the game. Pryzbilla can take credit for that fact, doing a great job defending, while Frye struggled, which was where a big change of pace occurred in the Trail Blazers game.

Lets hope that the break did Portland well, and the 3rd will be more reminiscent of the 1st. Lamarcus has managed to avoid oicking up any more fouls since the trouble he encountered early on, so he should be a major factor in the second. Roy has also been somwhat MIA so far, so he'll be looking to making a big push in the second as well.

Perhaps Travis will earn some more playing time too, as he proved himself in the first with an impressive performance, and still holds the lead for scoring for the Trail Blazers in the game.

Webster Keeping It Close
posted: at 7:59 PM

While the rest of the team is looking ready for a half time breather, Martell has been playing strong, holding it together for the Trail Blazer team that relinquished an 11 point lead, now leading by just 1. Martell has picked up 5 points including a big 3 in the end of this quarter, and is the only one looking on point right now.

Gaining Ground....
posted: at 7:52 PM

Orlando is slowly starting to catch-up, knocking Portland's lead to just 3 with 5 to go before the half. Frye experienced some problems guarding Howard, grabbing 3 fouls in just a few minutes, and was quickly traded out for Pryzbilla, who held the position comfortably in the first.

Another basket from Dwight Howard, followed by a pair of points for Lewis and Orlando is up by 1.

Trail Blazers on Top At End of First, 27-17
posted: at 7:38 PM

A phenomenal first quarter for the Trail Blazers as they outscore the Magic 27-17. LaMarcus and Dwight Howard both ran into some foul trouble in the quarter, but on the Portland end this was no problem as Travis Outlaw stepped up to the plate, filling in for LA and scoring 8 points. Joel Pryzbilla has done a fantastic job of containing the Orlando All-Star Dwight Howard, who scored just two points and had 4 rebounds in the first. Przbilla had 5 points and 5 rebounds, including 3 defensive R's of his own.

Also worth mentioning is the fact taht Portland only had ONE turnover in the first, to Orlando's five.

LaMarcus in Trouble Early
posted: at 7:25 PM

Lamarcus has two fouls already, with 5 to go in the first. He has taken the bench, but what does this mean for the game? Let's hope that Outlaw can hold it down in his place until McMillan is ready to put him out on the floor again.

Pryzbilla is doing a great job defending Howard, who just has two points so far.

Pryzbilla has 5 rebounds so far, Howard has grabbed 4 for Orlando.

Orlando Off To A Slow Start

Four minutes into the game, Portland leads by 5 with a score of 10-5. The Trail Blazers have been doing a great job of picking up offensive rebounds even in spite of the presence of Howard.

Outlaw just entered for Lamarcus with 6 to go.
