Practice Pays Off
posted: at 9:10 PM

I headed out to the Trail Blazers practice on Monday, and watched as they did passing exercises. Well, practice pay off, these guys look like th Harlem Globetrotters right now, passing back and forth over Detroits flustered heads. It's been a successful game of keep away, as the Trail Blazers continue to outscore the Pistons, and lead by 8 with just a minute to go.

There's a faint aroma in the distance, the sweet smell of impending victory...

Technical Difficulties
posted: at 9:04 PM

Well, if you've been watching the live blog and notcied that i haven't posted for a while, it isn't because nothing's happening. It's because of technical difficulties with my laptop, and I apologize and sincerely hope you are watching the game at home on TV right now, because this has been nothing but non stop action!

The crowd is on its feet, there's 3 minutes to go and the Trail Blazers lead by 8 points. Lamarcus and Brandon are on FIRE, Roy with 20, Aldridge with 19. Sergio Rodriguez has been hustling too, tacking on 7 points and 3 assists, and racing down the court so fast he looks like Steve Nash's long lost twin.

As long as the Trail Blazers can keep the momentum flowing, they should walk away with their 4th consecutive win from home.

Now excuse, me, I have to take off my sweater, its hot in here!

Clyde the Glide...
posted: at 8:26 PM

It's half time, and the "Honoring Our Heritage" presentation. The aforementioned guests from the '90 and '92 teams have taken the floor, to enthusiastic applause. Clearly the fan favorite is Clyde "the glide" Drexler, who receieves a standing ovation.
Each player takes turns answering questions from long time radio announcer Bill Schonley, reflecting on their days in Bridgetown.
Clyde Drexler: "To play and live in the city of Portland... what an honor."

and on the subject of the current team: "I'm proud of the team we have today, they are great people on and off the court, which is important."

Clyde the Glide is the most talented Blazer of all-time,but this team has a chemistry about it that I think will be better in time than the early 90's teams. Can't wait to see what this team can do in time just playing together. Go Blazers!!

BEAUTIFUL
posted: at 7:47 PM

What a play by Jarrett Jack and Brandon Roy! A beautiful alley oop... Jack draws another assist and Roy the points.
Immediately following, Jack draws the fowl and the point, and before I can even finish typing this sentence, draws another fowl and scores AGAIN! What did the feed this guy before the game? 6 points in 20 seconds from JJ, along with a gorgeous assist. Keep up the good work, Jack!

Portland leads by two (40-38) with just under six to go.

And in case you lost count, Jack has 14 points.

Something To Prove...
posted: at 7:39 PM

Rasheed Wallace is on fire for the Pistons tonight, in what I can only assume is a purposeful spectacle for his former team and city. Just over three minutes in the second, he's already racked up 11 points.

On the other end of the court, after losing his starting priviledges following the road trip losing streak, it's clear that Jarrett Jack wants 'em back. He has 6 points and 2 assists so far, leading the Trail Blazers.

Travis Outlaw Enters In Style
posted: at 7:33 PM

T.O. enters the game for Lamarcus and upon arrival hits a three. Not only does that guy have the coolest name, but he's got the best sound affect too. If you've been to the games here at the Rose Garden, you know what I'm talking about. I'm jealous.

It's good to see Travis hitting 3's and his outside shot. That's a great weapon to have off the bench.

Jarrett Jack- Way To Be There
posted: at 7:23 PM

As Brandon Roy goes for the lay-up, the ball is stripped from his hands. No fear, Jarett Jack is here to pick up the rebound and a couple of points.

***thirty seconds later:
make that a couple more points.

Portland is down by 5 with just under two and a half minutes in the first.

Lamarcus Starting Things Off Right
posted: at 7:14 PM

The first 4 on the board belong to Lamarcus, who already is looking sharp. Lets see if he'll beat his 30 pt. career high tonight.

Detroit is on point so far too, there's no doubt about it, they came to play. Tonight is shaping up to be a heated battle.

When Rasheed Wallace is introduced, the Rose Garden is defeaning with the sound of equal parts boos and cheers.

After the Trail Blazers starting line-up is announced, the special guests of the evening take the floor. Cliff Robinson is here tonight along with Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, and Kevin Duckworth.

Looks like the comparative starting line-ups tonight are Martell Webster, Lamarcus Aldridge, Channing Frye, Brandon Roy, and Steve Blake for the Trail Blazers,

and Tayshaun Prince, Antontio McDyess, Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton, and Chauncy Billups for the Pistons.

Behind the Scenes...
posted: at 6:39 PM

Clyde Drexler and Kevin Duckworth just answered a few questions for the media in the press room. When asked who he admires most on the current team, Drexler said "Aldridge," because he watched him play in college, and "Oden".
