Winning with Style

Jeremy Richardson, the Trail Blazer forward recently signed to a 10-day contract mainly for practice purposes, is seeing his first action in the scarlet, white and black uniform -- which means Portland's got the victory well in hand.

And that'll do it. Portland wallops the Golden State Warriors 106-87. Never at any point were the Trail Blazers behind in this game.

Indeed, it was a total team effort here Sunday which saw Portland best the Warriors in nearly every statistical category. It was a total team effor tonight. Brandon Roy led all scorers with 26 points -- just two short of his career-high. Zach Randolph finished with 25 points and 13 boards.

Ime for Three!
posted: at 8:07 PM

That gives the Trail Blazers 99 -- and you know what that means. A block gives them the ball back. Travis Outlaw fouled on a dunk attempt makes his first, and the Chalupa cheers erupt.

Portland up 20 with less than two minutes to go.

Roy's got 26
posted: at 8:02 PM

Two more and he'll tie his career high of 28. And if he hits a three, well, I don't have to tell you what the means.

3:40 remaining. The Trail Blazers are up, 96-80.

And ooh boy, did Udoka just dig out a beautiful offensive rebound.

Five Alive

Portland's starting five is back on the floor, which would suggest that Nate McMillan doesn't intend to let this one get even close.

The Trail Blazers lead in every single statistical category except turnovers and missed free throws. Quite an effort. Here's hoping they force a few more from Golden State for a perfect 100% on the stat sheet.

Roy's three puts the Trail Blazers up 94-72. 7:16 left to play.

Travis Hits
posted: at 7:46 PM

And the whipping continues. Golden State is playing without any of it's starters at the moment, which may suggest that coach Don Nelson has already thrown in the towel on this one.

89-68, Trail Blazers with just under nine minutes to go.

What a Third!
posted: at 7:38 PM

My goodness, the Trail Blazers pour in 35 points in the third quarter and bust this game wide open.

Everybody's getting in on the action, but it's Zach Randolph who's leading the charge. He's got 25 points to go with 13 rebounds.

One quarter to go, and it's going to take a miracle for Golden State, now without Stephen Jackson, to get back in this game.

It might be a little premature, but something tells me the Trail Blazers are about to wave goodbye to their two game losing streak. Golden State, on the other hand, are looking at their fourth consecutive loss.

The Big Man's Touch
posted: at 7:33 PM

Zach Randolph just stepped out and joined the Trail Blazer three point barrage. What a soft touch he's got...

Portland up 19 with 3:14 to go -- they've scored 31 points in the quarter so far!

Jackson Out of Controll!
posted: at 7:30 PM

Turns the ball over, protests the call and is whilstled for a technical. Continued jawing earns him another and he's out of here. Hit the road Jack(son).

That's a major part of the Golden State offense that will be watching the rest of this game from the locker room.

And it's Ime for three!

This could get ugly for the Warriors...

Another Three!
posted: at 7:27 PM

This time from Jarrett Jack.

After getting a stop the Trail Blazers come back down, Ime scores and is fouled! His and-one attempt bounces out.

But the Trail Blazers have their biggest lead of the game now at 13.

Another stop and Portland's got the ball back.

72-59, Portland. Just under six minutes remaining.

And it culminates with Zach fighting, fighting and fighting some more for an offensive rebound which he finally corralled and put back up for two. Randolph's got his 34th double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.

On the next possession Ime nailed a three from his favorite spot in the corner to give the Trail Blazers a 67-59 lead.

Five Quick Warrior Points

A three and a layup and all of a sudden the Warriors are within two.

Trail Blazers call timeout.

A Solid First Half
posted: at 7:00 PM

Portland got off to a quick start and kept it up. They take a seven point lead into the locker room.

The entire team is looking in sync -- especially on offense. They are hitting shots and playing unselfish basketball. Brandon Roy leads all scorers with 14 points. Zach Randolph has 13 and eight.

Al Harrington leads the Warriors with 13.

52-45, Portland.

And, as always, I'd like to invite everyone out there in Blog-land to share your comments and questions! Post away, and thanks for dropping by.

Zach on the Break!
posted: at 6:55 PM

No Warriors in sight and Jones hooks up Zach with the easy dunk.

Randolph's got 13. Just two more boards and he'll have the double-double, which would be his 34th of the season.

50-41, Portland. 1:57 to go in the half.

Zach 's Got Some Numbers
posted: at 6:48 PM

With four minutes remaining in the second quarter, Zach Randolph is already closing in on a double-double. He's got nine points and a very impressive eight boards. Let's see if he can get both into double figures before the end of the half.

Roy at the line. Hits the first. And the second.

Trail Blazers 46, Warriors 37.

DUNK Party!
posted: at 6:44 PM

On another fast break Segio finds Freddie! Another big dunk and this crowd is blowing the roof off!

Next time down Sergio finds Martell for a sweet reverse layup!

This is perhaps the best stuff we've seen from Rodriguez since he went down with the ankle injury.

Trail Blazers up 11.

Another Ridiculous Call!
posted: at 6:40 PM

Jamaal Magloire accosted in the lane. But this time the Trail Blazers recover the loose ball and Martell Webster nails a three.

BLAZERS STEAL!

Sergio leading the break, no look wrap around pass to the trailing Travis Outlaw who delivers a two-handed flush with authority!

What'd I say about the dunk contest? Right on!

The place is wild and Warriors coach Don Nelson figures it might be best to let the crowd simmer down a little bit by calling a timeout.

36-27, Trail Blazers with 8:20 left to go.

Roy Already With 10
posted: at 6:38 PM

And the Trail Blazers have a 29-25 lead.

And, OH MY GOODNESS!

Freddie Jones just had an AMAZING, twisting baseline jam. The former dunk champ knows how it's done!

Perhaps him and Travis ought to have a little competition...

No Call?!?
posted: at 6:22 PM

Brandon Roy just got smashed in the lane but there was nary a whistle to be found.

"He got tackled," a fan in the crowd told his son.

No respect for the rookies I tell ya.

Meanwhile the Warriors have found a little offense. They have worked their was back, down only two.

17-15, Portland.

An Early Laugh
posted: at 6:17 PM

On the bigscreen Trail Blazer players were asked where they most like to shop in Portland. A lot of players said Mario's, but it was Dan Dickau who got the best response when he said he shops "anywhere that has a sale because I'm cheap.

Blazers Jump to Early Lead

It's 9-1, Portland. The Trail Blazers have gotten buckets from Ime, Zach, plus a layup and a three from ROY.

The good start forced Warriors into an early timeout.

Tip-off Approaches
posted: at 6:09 PM

It wont be long now -- the Trail Blazers are warming up on one end and the Golden State Warriors are on the other.

Each team is nursing a losing streak, Golden State's dropped their last three, and the Trail Blazers two (though, they NEARLY knocked off the red hot Spurs here last week).

The Warriors won the first of the three games between the teams this season 102-89 in Oakland. That was way back on November 3rd, so it's safe to say both these teams have changed quite a bit since.

Keep your eyes out for the Warriors Monta Ellis, a prolific scorer with amazing hops.

Here we go....
