Grant Hill gets a lob and scores at the rim. 91-89 Orlando. Everyone in the building is shocked. Speechless.

Grant Hill Steals!
posted: at 9:16 PM

Jack follows him, refusing to give the easy bucket, and Hill takes a nasty spill into the basket. But, the cagey veteran that he is, Hill sucks it up and hits both his free throws.

Timeout. 89-89. Trail Blazer ball. 29.7 seconds remain.

Trail Blazers Scrapping
posted: at 9:07 PM

Dwight Howard is on Z-Bo, and forces a miss, but LaMarcus digs out the offensive board, and Jarrett Jack takes a hard foul, but earns his two points at the line.

It's loud in here.

Jarrett and Sergio
posted: at 9:04 PM

The two Trail Blazers guards are getting extended minutes together, with Sergio at the point and Jarrett at the two.

With LaMarcus' top of the key jumper, Portland is down by only one. The spotlights are on, the fans are on their feet, and we've got ourselves a game!

Portland 83, Orlando 84. Four minutes left in the fourth.

Trail Blazers Go Cold
posted: at 8:46 PM

Poor shooting from Portland, combined with two Dwight Howard dunks and a layin from Carlos Arroyo has put the Magic up by eight, and forced Coach McMillan into a timeout.

Nine minutes to go. 81-73, Orlando.

Different Worlds
posted: at 8:36 PM

In the first-quarter, it was all Dwight Howard, all the time.

But in the third, Howard has become a memory as Zach Randolph found his offensive touch. Scoring 16 of his game-high 20 points in the quarter, Zach has the crowd fired up, and the Trail Blazers in the game.

72-67, Magic, and with one left to play. And it should be a good one.

Zach is on Fire!
posted: at 8:32 PM

And I wan't to tell you how many points he's got this quarter, but there's still three-minutes left and I've got a feeling Zach's not done yet.

Portland 63, Orlando 65, and the Friday night atmosphere is starting to swell here at the Rose Garden.

Things are Tightening Up
posted: at 8:22 PM

The offense, the defense, the score, the refs and the fans are all becoming more intently focused here in the third -- the Rose Garden crowd especailly. After the run that put the Trail Blazers back in the game, Portland fans are cheering every rebound, shot and whistle with added intensity.

You gotta like the sound of that...

But perhaps even more so, the announcement that the boot on Brandon Roy's injured heel has come off.

Eight Straight
posted: at 8:13 PM

Zach Randolph has re-asserted himself as the Trail Blazers' offensive focal point with eight straight points, including two three-point plays.

And just like that, Portland is within two, 56-54.

Strange First-Half
posted: at 7:52 PM

Portland looks like a very different team than they did Tuesday against Indiana.

Tonight the Trail Blazers are going outside in, rather than running the offense through Zach Randolph in the post. Zach has only four points, and he's going to have to get involved for the Trail Blazers to have a shot at winning tonight.

At the half, Portland 44, Orlando 51.

Everyone's Getting Involved
posted: at 7:47 PM

We're little more than half-way through the second-quarter, and every Trail Blazer in uniform is on the scorebord. That's a good sign, as lack of teamwork hurt Portland Tuesday against the Pacers.

And better yet, the Trail Blazers have already racked up 11 assists. In their last game Portland finished with only 13, and that killed them. These are numbers to keep your eye on...

Is That? It IS!
posted: at 7:40 PM

Is that Darko Milicic that just checked in for Orlando? It is! Good to see that the former #2 overall pick is finally seeing some meaninful NBA minutes. I guess the league is going to need a new player to assume Milicic's nickname, "the human victory cigar".

And speaking of players that havent see a lot of hardwood lately, Grant Hill is looking pretty good for the Magic. In fact, he's everywhere. If there were ever an inspirational story about coming back from injury in the NBA, Hill's constant battle is it.

Howard May Have Broke the Rim
posted: at 7:17 PM

The alley-oop pass from Jameer Nelson looked to have missed its mark, but when you are Dwight Howard you just stay in the air, reach back with your tree-trunk arms and pack it like the pass was perfect.

Orlando leads, 15-11.

Trail Blazers Host Surprising Orlando
posted: at 6:59 PM

It's hard to think of a better way to start the weekend than by spending Friday evening at the Rose Garden. But for the Trail Blazers, tonight's game will be anything but leisure.

Their opponents, the Magic, have the best record in the Eastern Conference, and have won their last five games. Their early dominance surpised many, but upon closer look, Orlando's success really isn't surprising.

Dwight Howard is proving worthy of his #1 Draft pick selection and then some. It's only the begining for Howard, who at the tender age of 20, is already drawing comparisons to Shaquille O'Neal and David Robinson. Dwight is a double-double machine, but you could say he's a double-double-double threat. Three times this season Howard has scored at least twenty points while grabbing twenty rebounds.

The Kid is a monster, and the Trail Blazers are really going to have to bring some muscle at him to contend.

So here we go...
