Timberwolves Tip-Off
posted: Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 7:10 PM

Kevin Garnett and his team are out on the court shooting around. I watched their warmup earlier – Garnett stood in the middle of the chanting, bouncing pyramid of big bodies and outstretched hands that played call and response. “Who we got?” “WE’RE ALL WE GOT!” they shouted.

The Timberwolves have lost four games in a row, and are certainly looking for a little solidarity since their coach Dwayne Casey was recently fired. Taking over the reigns for the time being is Randy Whittman.

Minnesota is currently at 20-20, and tonight they’ll face a Portland squad who have won their last two straight games at home, and three of five overall.

Against the Bucks Sunday, Brandon Roy once again bumped up his career high to 28. The Trail Blazers led by as many as 20 points in that game and held off a ferocious comeback attempt led by the 5’5” Earl Boykins.

A win tonight would give Portland a 2-1 edge in the season series with Minnesota. Each team has protected their home court in the earlier meetings.
